The place
The site opens to an endless view of the Aegean, suspended between the beaches of Pisolimnionas and Limanaki.
The design proposal
Here, the landscape design was guided by the rhythms of the island itself: the natural clustering of plants, the resilience of Mediterranean shrublands, the texture of phrygana, and above all, the light that defines the Cycladic aura.
The plant palette
Arrival begins at the north, where evergreen shrubs and scented perennials create a lush, welcoming threshold, protecting the house from the north winds. Turning east, a more private retreat reveals itself: a gravel-covered garden, a secluded spot beneath the wide canopy of an old olive tree, bordered with perennials and grasses that move softly in the breeze.
Throughout the property, cushion-shaped shrubs and low Mediterranean species form natural groupings, thickening near the lower path to lead the visitor into an immersive shrubland. Ornamental grasses create golden lines across the ground, flowing west to east like the path of the sun, while bursts of aromatic perennials punctuate the garden with color and fragrance.
Closer to the house, the pool area is framed with groundcovers and low perennials, planted in organic flows. A lemon tree and a mulberry tree add shade and seasonal fragrance, offering a refreshing presence near the seating areas and the residence itself.
